Rush Submission Handling: Expedited Clearance, Auto-Generated IDs, SLA Countdown, and Real-Time Notifications

When the broker says "I need this bound by end of day," InsightUW's Rush workflow delivers — with full audit trail and compliance intact.

The Problem

15% of submissions are time-sensitive. A board meeting, an M&A closing, a regulatory deadline, or simply a broker who's been shopping and needs an answer NOW.

Most underwriting workstations treat rush submissions the same as everything else — same queue, same SLA, same process. The broker calls, the UW scrambles, corners get cut, and nothing is documented.

The Scenario

It's Monday 9:00 AM. Jennifer Walsh (Senior UW, Cyber) gets a call from the Gallagher broker:

"NovaPay Technologies has a board meeting TOMORROW at 9 AM. They need proof of $15M cyber coverage before the meeting. The CFO is presenting to the board that they have adequate cyber risk transfer. If we don't have a binder by end of day today, they're going to Chubb."

The Rush Flow

9:05 AM — Jennifer clicks the Rush button on NovaPay's submission:

The Rush modal appears:

Field Value
Reason "Board meeting tomorrow 9 AM. Need binder by EOD. Broker: competing with Chubb."
Requested By "Robert Williams (Gallagher Specialty)"
Rush SLA 4 hours

Jennifer clicks "Confirm Rush".

9:05:01 AM — System executes 7 auto-actions in < 1 second:

The Audit Trail (17 events)

Every step documented. If there's ever a coverage dispute, the complete decision chain is preserved.

The Rush Modal

When a UW clicks the Rush button, they see a proper modal (not a JavaScript prompt):

Field Type Options
Reason Textarea (required) Free text
Requested By Text (pre-filled with broker) Editable
Rush SLA Dropdown 2 hours, 4 hours, Same day (8h), 24 hours

Below the form, a checklist shows what will happen automatically:
- ✅ Generate submission number immediately
- ✅ Run expedited OFAC/sanctions clearance
- ✅ Escalate priority to HIGH
- ✅ Move to top of work queue
- ✅ Log rush in audit trail

Un-Rush

If the urgency is resolved (broker says "board meeting postponed"), the UW can click "Un-Rush" to:
- Remove rush flag
- Reset SLA to standard
- Keep the submission number (already generated)
- Log "rush removed" in audit trail

API for External Rush Requests

Brokers can also request rush through the portal API:
